Opened in May 2024, Blue Surf Bay Waterpark is a new indoor and outdoor water park featuring various aquatic features for users of all ages and abilities. The project represents SFS Architecture’s most recent collaboration with the city. In 2020, Blue Springs tapped SFS to lead a study to determine the community’s indoor and outdoor aquatic needs. In 2021, SFS led a team to design a multi-generational waterpark adjacent to the Blue Springs Fieldhouse, also designed by SFS, to allow for joint use of facilities and save on administrative costs.
The indoor aquatic center features a four-lane cool water lap pool with a rock-climbing wall, a waterfall, and two diving platforms. There is also a Ninja Cross Course suspended from the ceiling that drops into the pool for obstacle course-like action. Additionally, the indoor facility includes a warm water lifestyle pool with a current channel to allow for aqua exercise, youth swim lessons, fitness classes, physical therapy programs, and leisure use. A spacious indoor splash pad, water slide, sauna, and hot tub are also in the indoor facility.
Outdoors, Blue Surf Bay features a 40-foot slide tower with multiple slides. The outdoor space also includes a lazy river with a special action channel, a wave-ball pool with an attached activity pool, and a zero-depth entry pool with a play structure for younger children. One of the main attractions of the waterpark is a double surf simulator that allows visitors to try knee boarding or stand-up surfing.
Sips and bites will be served starting at 4:30, with the tour starting promptly at 5:00.
